This really does feel like a full circle moment.
I’ve applied for the NextGen Fund before… and I got rejected. I remember how discouraging that felt at the time. It’s one of those moments where you start questioning whether you’re on the right path or not.
But looking back now, everything really does happen at the right time.
It’s only been a couple of years since Youth Music supported the Tracks on Tap EP —a project I executive produced and that went on to debut at No.1 on the iTunes Hip-Hop charts. We even got to perform at the Youth Music Awards in 2025, which was a moment in itself.
So to now be in a position where I’ve been awarded the NextGen Fund… yeah, it means a lot.
It feels like validation.
Not just for me, but for everything I’ve been building — the music, the events, the community. It feels like the movement is starting to solidify into something real.
And even more than that, it feels like I’m in good company.
Artists I respect and look up to, like Lil Trubz, Shogun Shato, and JAYAHADADREAM, have been recipients of this fund before. So to now be part of that list… it just feels right. Like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
The team at Youth Music have also been amazing throughout. Proper, supportive, genuinely invested, and really backing the vision. Which is mad when you think about it, because at the core of it, it all started as just an idea. A slightly crazy one at that.
But they’ve believed in it.
And that makes a difference.
Right now, I’m already working on the next project, which is set to drop later this year. This funding is going to allow me to really take my time with it, develop it properly, and build something that reflects where I’m at now.
So yeah…
I’m grateful.
Grateful for the support, the journey so far, and everything that’s still to come.
Still a long way to go.
But we’re definitely on the right path.
